U.S. Army All-American Marching Band – 2011 Staff

Nola Jones - Director

Dr. Nola Jones is the Director of Bands and Associate Professor of Music Education at the University of Tennessee Martin where her responsibilities include conducting the UTM Wind Ensemble and Concert Band, serving as director of the UTM Skyhawk Marching Band and Pep Band, and teaching undergraduate courses in conducting and music education. Prior to her appointment at UT Martin, she served as the Associate Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Music Education at Northern Arizona University. A native of Mississippi, Dr. Jones has enjoyed a successful career as a middle school and high school band director in Mississippi and Tennessee, where her bands consistently received all superior ratings in concert, sight-reading and marching.

Dr. Jones maintains an active schedule as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician for concert bands, marching bands and honor ensembles. She has appeared throughout the United States as well as Canada, Japan, the Netherlands, and Singapore. At the request of MENC: The National Association for Music Education, she was the Director of the 2010 US Army All-American Band, will serve as its 2011 Director, and has been a member of the Blue Ribbon Committee to write National Standards for Marching Band. She has held positions on the Executive Board of Middle Tennessee State Band and Orchestra Association and as a state chair for the National Band Association. Dr. Jones' professional affiliations include Music Educators National Conference, Tennessee Music Educators Association, Tennessee Bandmasters Association, West Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association, National Band Association, College Band Directors National Association, Phi Beta Mu, Sigma Alpha Iota, Tau Beta Sigma, and Kappa Kappa Psi. Dr. Jones actively adjudicates for Drum Corps International, Bands of America, and Winter Guard International, having judged numerous Regional, National, and World Championships for these organizations.

Dr. Jones received the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Mississippi State University and the Master of Music Education degree from Mississippi College. She received her Doctorate of Musical Arts in wind band conducting from the University of South Carolina where she was a student of Dr. William J. Moody.


Jo Ann Hood - Piccolos

Jo Ann Hood is a native of Columbia, Tennessee and a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Instrumental Music. She received her Masters of Arts in Education from Cumberland University in 1996. Beginning her teaching career in 1972, she has served as Band Director at Giles County High School, Wright Junior High School, Bellevue Junior and Senior High Schools and Hillwood High School. She is presently in her twenty ninth year as Director of the John Overton High School Band.

Miss Hood is Past President of the Tennessee Music Educators Association, the Middle Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association, the Tennessee Bandmasters Association, and Phi Beta Mu National School Bandmasters Fraternity. She served as State Chair for the National Band Association for three years, as High School Representative for two years, and as Southern Division Chairperson on the NBA Board of Control for two years. She holds membership in the Tennessee Music Educators Association, MENC, Tennessee Bandmasters Association, National Band Association, American School Band Directors Association, Tennessee Education Association, National Education Association, and Metropolitan Nashville Education Association. She is a member of Delta Omicron, Kappa Delta Pi and serves as Executive Secretary-Treasurer and President of Phi Beta Mu National School Bandmasters Fraternity.

In 1981, 1984, and 1986, Miss Hood served as Chairperson of the Tennessee All-State Band and as All-State General Chairperson in 1989. She has served on the Executive Boards of TMEA and MTSBOA. She is currently on the Marching Band Advisory Board for Bands of America, serves on The Jury for the John Phillip Sousa Foundation Sudler Shield, and is Exhibits Chairperson for the Tennessee Music Education Association Conference. In 1985, 1991, 1997, 2000 and 2001 Miss Hood was a recipient of the National Band Association's Certificate of Merit for Marching Excellence and in 1986 she was inducted into the Middle Tennessee State University Band of Blue Club Hall of Fame. She was selected as an outstanding Young Woman of America in 1987 and was a recipient of the National Band Association's Citation of Excellence in 1988, 1990, 1996, and 2003. She was awarded the Scroll of Excellence for Outstanding Contribution to Bands and Band Music by the Women Band Directors National Association in 1991, received the Sudler Order of Merit of the John Phillip Sousa Foundation in 1988 and 1992, and has been selected to the Who's Who Among American Teachers on two occasions. She is a 2005 inductee into the National High School Band Directors Hall of Fame and in 2006 was selected to the Who’s Who of American Women. She serves extensively as an adjudicator and clinician of Marching and Concert Bands.


Beth Fabrizio - Clarinets

Beth A. Fabrizio holds a Bachelor of Music from the Eastman School of Music in Clarinet Performance and a Masters of Music in Conducting, Education and Performance from Ithaca College. She has studied conducting with Rodney Winther and Dr. Donald Hunsberger and Clarinet with Michael Webster, Richard Waller, Stanley Hasty, William Osseck, Carmine Campione and Richard Stoltzman.

Ms. Fabrizio maintains a private clarinet studio with numerous students pursuing careers in music education, therapy, recording and performance. She herself performs as the principal clarinetist and personnel manager with The Hochstein Music Educators Wind Ensemble, and former Eb clarinet with The Perinton Concert Band.

Ms. Fabrizio has conducted various all-county and festival ensembles and given master classes and clinics to numerous high school and college ensembles and state associations across the United States and Japan. She has consulted such marching bands as Liverpool, Webster, Baldwinsville, Eastridge, West Seneca West, Hilton and Robinson High School in Fairfax, Virginia. Ms. Fabrizio has been the brass caption head with The Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps, brass coordinator with The Pride of Soka from Tokyo, Japan and brass instructor with The Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps from Toledo, Ohio. Beth is presently a brass instructor with the Boston Crusaders. She has also conducted honors ensembles on European Tours with American Music Abroad Empire Tour. January 2011 will find Ms. Fabrizio on the music faculty of the MENC United States Army All-American Marching Band in San Antonio, Texas.

Ms. Fabrizio has adjudicated and continues to work for DCI, DCA, BOA, USSBA, Northwest Band Circuit, Indiana Marching Band Circuit and other independent contractors around the country. She is the past caption head for music for The New York State Federation of Contest Judges. She is active in NYSSMA, MENC, NYSBDA, SAI and her own county association as past All-County Band Coordinator for 9 years. Ms. Fabrizio has been an All-Conference Chaperone and past MENC All-Eastern Head Chaperone. Ms. Fabrizio is a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Education Honorary, Denison University Teacher of the Year, and was inducted into the Rochester Crusader Drum and Bugle Corps Hall of Fame in 2004. Ms. Fabrizio has become a 2005-2006 and a 2006-2007 member of Who's Who in American Teachers.

Beth Fabrizio was Director of Bands at Wheatland-Chili Junior/Senior High School in Scottsville, New York for 11 years, and is in her eleventh year as an Instrumental/vocal general music teacher in the Hilton Central School District, Hilton, New York. She presently resides in Fairport, New York with her husband, William Burnaz.

 


Tim Pierce - Saxophones

Tim Pierce, a graduate of Booneville (MS) High School, holds degrees from Northeast Mississippi Community College, The University of Southern Mississippi, and Mississippi College. He is a former marching member of The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps as well as a proud member of The Cavaliers Anniversary Corps 888.

He taught at Crystal Springs (MS) High School helping the band receive their first superior ratings in nineteen years. He then taught seven years as adjunct faculty at Jones County Junior College in Ellisville, MS culminating in a 1989 appearance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the first appearance for any Mississippi band since 1970.

His judging experiences have taken him into twenty-one states. He’s worked for the Gulf Coast Judges Association, The New York Federation of Judges, and he’s worked at the regional level for Bands of America. He also served on the traveling panel of Winter Guard International for 11 years working as movement caption facilitator for a portion of his tenure.

In 1995 he resumed the role of teacher/consultant with Greenville (MS) High School for their appearance in the 1995 Pasadena Rose Parade. He was the visual coordinator for the 2001 and 2002 Mississippi Lion’s All-State Band. In 2004 he re-entered the Bands of America arena with Cordova (TN) High School helping them achieve their first BOA division one rating and place in finals at the St. Louis Super Regional. The success with Cordova aggressively thrust him back into the competitive marching band arena. In the past five years he’s worked as visual and/or program coordinator for bands in Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee and Kentucky. He was visual coordinator for 2006 Mississippi 5A State Champion Tupelo High School and program coordinator for 2008 Mississippi 3A Runner-up Lewisburg High School, 2008 Mississippi 4A State Champion Ridgeland High School and 2008 Mississippi 5A State Champion Southaven High School. In addition to his work with high schools he has programmed shows for The University of Mississippi, The University of Memphis, and Itawamba Community College as well as consulted with Dr. Nola Jones at The University of Tennessee at Martin.

He currently resides in Memphis, TN where he works at his “real job” as owner of Signature Designs, Inc., an appointment only interior design studio.


Wayne Dillon - Trumpets

Wayne Dillon holds a Masters degree in Jazz performance from The University of Miami (FL). At Miami, Wayne worked as a graduate assistant for the University Marching Band and Basketball Bands. During his time with the UM Marching Band, the football team won the National Championship. Wayne completed both his Honors Fine Arts and Education degrees from York University in Toronto, Canada.

Wayne is currently the Director of Bands at the Upper Academy High School in Elizabeth, NJ. His teaching responsibilities include Music Theory and History, along with Jazz, Symphonic, and Marching Band. The Elizabeth HS Symphonic and Jazz bands have consistently earned superior ratings during Wayne’s tenure, and the Marching Band was awarded three consecutive State Championships from 2005-2007. In 2007, the Marching Band was awarded the Northern States championship, besting bands from Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New Jersey. That same year, Wayne was awarded the Artistic and Cultural Excellence award from the Superintendent of schools Pablo Munoz.

The Bands from Elizabeth High School have performed regularly along side the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, The Gramercy Brass, and professional musicians and clinicians from New York and the surrounding area.

Wayne is an active adjudicator for Drum Corps International and Bands of America. He has judged the prestigious National championships for both organizations over the past twenty years. Wayne provides music clinics for Conn-Selmer, musical instruments and has traveled to Canada, Japan, and Europe to promote music education.

Wayne is currently in his third year as Music Coordinator with the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps from Boston, MA. He manages a music staff of twenty teachers who help create a summer musical touring ensemble. He has also worked on the music staff of the nine-time world champion Cadets of Bergen County, NJ. Wayne served as the music supervisor in 2002.

As a performer, Wayne has played with The Studio Jazz band and the Art Blakey jazz ensemble from the University of Miami. Outside of school, Wayne has performed and recorded with Jeff Healey, Albert Collins, KC and the Sunshine Band, Al Chez (from Dave Letterman band), The Meteors, and The Hamilton Philharmonic. He currently plays with the Don Mayer Band.

In 2008, Wayne was awarded the State of New Jersey Governor’s teacher recognition award for his work with the music program at Elizabeth High School.


Andre Feagin - Mellophones

T. Andre Feagin is Assistant Professor of Music, Associate Director of Bands and Director of Athletic Bands at the University of Texas at El Paso. His duties include the artistic and musical guidance of the symphonic band, directing the Sound of the Southwest Marching Miner Band and basketball pep bands.

Professor Feagin holds a master of music degree in instrumental wind conducting from the University of Memphis and a bachelor of music degree in performance. He is currently pursuing the doctorate of musical arts degree in wind conducting from the University of North Texas. He is a recipient of the Golden Apple Teacher award and has taught in the public schools of Tennessee, Texas, and California. As a conductor, he has made appearances across the United States and made his professional conducting debut with the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America. His mentors include Eugene Migliaro Corporon, Dennis W. Fisher, Kraig A. Williams, James Gholson, Denise Gainey and Steve Cohen. He continues to be in high demand as a guest conductor and travels regularly as a clinician and lecturer throughout the United States. He has been a recording production assistant for the GIA Windworks series and is a contributing author in the eighth volume of the Teaching Music Through Performance in Band series.

Professor Feagin is also an active program coordinator, adjudicator, clinician, and music arranger for some of the countries finest high school, drum corps and university band programs. He is in his third year on staff with the United States Army All-American Band. In addition, he serves as wind master of the Spirit of America Band from Orleans, MA. He is currently the brass caption head and third year staff member of the six-time world champion Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps from Santa Clara, CA.

In 2007 he served as executive director, brass caption head, brass arranger and program coordinator for the Division III World Champion Memphis Sound Drum and Bugle Corps. In addition to winning the visual, high brass and percussion captions, Drum Corps International named him Division III Director of the Year. Prior to his appointment at Memphis Sound, he served on the brass faculty for the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps from Fort Mill, SC. He is a former four-year conductor of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps and a past recipient of the Drum Corps International Jim Jones Leadership Award.

Professor Feagin’s professional memberships include the Music Educators National Association, Texas Music Educators Association, College Band Directors National Association and an honorary member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.


John Easley – Baritones/Trombones

 


Ken Bodiford - Tubas

Mr. Kenneth G. Bodiford, Assistant Professor, is the Director of Bands at Jacksonville State University. He earned his BS in Music Education at Jacksonville State University and his MM in Music Education and Wind Ensemble Conducting at East Carolina University. Upon completion of his MM degree, Mr. Bodiford served as the Director of Bands at Kecoughtan High School in Hampton, VA. Under his leadership, the KHS band program grew from 80 members to approximately 250 members. After his second year as the director, the Governor of the state declared the KHS Wind Ensemble and the Marching Band as a Virginia Honor Band. The Wind Ensemble consistently received superior ratings at all district festivals under his leadership. Also, the Marching Band without fail received superior awards culminating in a trip to New Orleans, Louisiana to represent the state of Virginia in the 1994 USF&G Sugar Bowl.

In 1994, Mr. Bodiford assumed the position at Jacksonville State University (Jacksonville, Alabama) as the Director of Bands. Since Mr. Bodiford’s appointment to the director’s position, the band program has consistently grown in numbers and quality each year. Since1994 the Marching Southerners have grown from approximately 144 members to a number of members in excess of 350. As the Marching Southerners began to be revitalized, so did the entire instrumental program. Each year the band program draws more and more very talented students. As would be expected, the JSU Chamber Winds, Wind Ensemble, and the Symphonic Band perform at extremely high levels. Most recently, the Wind Ensemble performed at the Bands of America Southeastern Regional in Atlanta, GA and the 2009 Marching Southerners were included in the Congressional Record of The 111th Congress U.S. House of Representatives for their fall production, “Of Thee I Sing,” which was a patriotic musical and visual tribute to all United States veterans in honor of the many sacrifices that have been made during times of war.

During Mr. Bodiford’s tenure at Jacksonville State University, he has initiated many new events and programs such as the Drums Across America Drum Corps Competition, the Contest of Champions Marching Festival, the JSU Summer Camp Program that draws approximately 10,000 high school students onto the campus each summer, the annual Wind Ensemble Concerto Competition, and has vastly expanded the Southerners Honor Band Program.

Also, Mr. Bodiford served as the Executive Director of the JSU SPIRIT Drum and Bugle Corps from 2001 until 2007. This group tours the nation and competes during the summer months in Drum Corps International competitions. Under his leadership, the SPIRIT Drum and Bugle Corps consistently ranked among the elite top twelve corps in the nation at the DCI World Championships.

Throughout his career, Mr. Bodiford has studied with some of the nations finest conductors. As an undergraduate student, his mentor and band director was Dr. David L. Walters, Director Emeritus, Jacksonville State University. He has also studied with conductors such as Dr. William W. Wiedrich,
University of South Florida, Dr. Robert Ponto, Oberlin Conservatory, Dr. Ken Ozello, The University of Alabama, and Dr. Frank Battisti, New England Conservatory.

Currently, Mr. Bodiford is completing his doctorate degree in instrumental conducting at The University of Alabama.


Jeff Prosperie - Battery

SSG Jeff Prosperie is currently serving as a member of The Legendary Hellcats at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York; a position he began in December of 2006. Jeff is a World Snare Drum Champion and the first and only individual to capture the “triple crown” of solo competition (DCI, PAS, DCA). In addition to his duties as a Hellcat he also performs on occasion with the West Point percussion ensemble, steel band, and concert band. Jeff also serves as the percussion arranger/instructor for the nationally televised Army All-American High School Marching Band.

Prior to these positions, he served as Director of Percussion Studies at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, Principal Percussion with the Baton Rouge Symphony, and as the percussion designer/caption-head for the World Champion Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle corps of Rockford, Illinois. He actively serves as a championship level adjudicator for DCI, USSBA, WGI and as a marching percussion committee member for PAS.

Jeff earned his B.M.Ed from LSU, his MM from The University of North Texas, and has completed all course work for the DMA from UNT. SSG Prosperie has performed, presented clinics, and adjudicated throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Japan as well as PASIC, TMEA, TBA, and The Mid-West Band and Orchestra Convention.

Jeff’s compositions and solo performances can be seen in his book/DVD “Aptitude--A Conversation in Snare Soloing” published by Drop 6. This publication received the very rare rating of a perfect “10” from Modern Drummer Magazine declaring it a classic. Jeff can also be seen as a featured artist on the recent DVD “The Rudiment Project” by the Percussive Arts Society as well as several performances on YouTube. Jeff is a performing artist endorsed by Pearl/Adams, Sabian, Innovative Percussion, and Evans.


Caleb Rothe – Front Ensemble/Rhythm Section

Caleb Rothe is the front ensemble arranger for the Spirit Drum and Bugle Corps. He previously served as a percussion director and front ensemble arranger at Ayala HS from 1997 to 2009, Rancho Cucamonga HS from 2000 to 2004, and the Pulse Percussion Ensemble from 2004 to 2007. He has been a percussion educator in Southern California since 1997 and has worked with more than 20 different high schools, independent percussion ensembles, and drum and bugle corps. He is a nationally sought-after adjudicator and arranger, and has written for numerous groups across the United States and Japan.

Caleb served as principle percussionist of the Cal Poly Pomona University Wind Ensemble from 1998 to 2003, and has also performed with the Irvine Valley College Wind Symphony. In addition to his concert performances, Caleb has been active as a studio musician and has performed on several CDs and film soundtracks.

Caleb endorses Pro-Mark sticks and mallets, Sabian cymbals, Remo drumheads, and Yamaha musical instruments and accessories. He was a founding member and now serves as President of the Southern California Percussion Alliance. Caleb is also a member of the Winter Guard International Percussion Advisory Board, Percussion Steering Committee, and is the Vice President of Percussion for the WGI Board of Directors.

In indoor competition, his ensembles have collectively won 9 WGI World Championship medals, been WGI World Championship Finalists 25 times, been Regional Finalists 55 times, and Regional Champions 20 times. On the field, his groups have previously been named DCI Division III World Champions, Bands of America Grand National Finalists, Bands of America Regional Champions, and Western Band Association Finalists 23 times. Locally, his ensembles have won 20 SCPA Championship medals and over 60 first place awards.

Caleb received his Bachelors degree in Computer Science from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in the spring of 2003 and his Teaching Credential from the University of Redlands in the winter of 2007.

Caleb lives with his wife Kelly and son Cameron in Rancho Cucamonga, California.


Greg Orwoll

Greg is a graduate of Decorah High School and Luther College (’80), with degrees in Business Management and Psychology, and with extensive music study and performance. He holds continuing education and graduate credits in non-profit management, marketing and fundraising.

Orwoll has been with the Colts Youth Organization since 1982 and has served as Director since 1984.

He holds an elected seat on the Drum Corps International (DCI) Board of Directors and serves as chair of the Finance Committee. Prior, he was as chair of Drum Corps Midwest, precursor to DCI Central, for 12 consecutive years.

He was elected to the Drum Corps International Hall of Fame in 2008, and was twice named director of the year in Drum Corps Midwest, and once in DCI Central.

Locally, Orwoll is very active, and has served as chair of the Festivals committee for the Dubuque Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, on the board for the Rotary Club of Dubuque and was President of the Dubuque Evening Optimist Club.

 

He is an active member of the Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce, National Fundraising Professionals, Iowa Bandmasters Association and the Northeast Iowa Bandmasters Association. He has presented eight different clinics for the Iowa Bandmasters’ Convention.

Orwoll has twice served as a grant panelist for the Iowa Arts Council and serves on the Executive Board of the Iowa Alliance for Arts Education.

Orwoll has been involved in marching music and pageantry since the age of 8, first as a member of the Decorah (IA) Kilties (1966-1973), the Osage (IA) Precision Aires (1974-1976) and The Cavaliers (1979).

He has instructed, consulted with and/or written shows for scores of high school marching bands since 1976 and has been a marching band and color guard judge since 1978.

He has judged shows in Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Missouri, Michigan, Illinois, Florida, Texas, Arizona, Kansas, New York, New Jersey and Oklahoma.

Some assignments of note have including the Michigan State Marching Band Championships, The United States Scholastic Band Association regional championships in Giants Stadium in New York, the Arizona State University Invitational Championship, the University of Kansas (KU) Marching Band Invitational, The Youth In Music Championships in the Metrodome in Minneapolis, and the University of Missouri Invitational.


Jay Kennedy

Jay Kennedy is currently Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs/Associate Provost at Berklee College of Music in Boston. His involvement in marching arts activities spans more than 30 years and has encompassed numerous aspects. He is an active arranger for marching bands, adjudicator for Music For All and World Guard International percussion competitions, serves as program coordinator and brass arranger for the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps, has served as adjudicator and judge administrator for Drum Corps International (DCI), and composed the main title themes used on the DVDs of the DCI world championship contests. Jay was inducted into the Drum Corps International Hall of Fame in 2008 for his longtime contributions as an adjudicator, judge administrator, arranger, and composer.

Jay has composed, arranged, and produced music for hundreds of television and radio commercials, including Pontiac, McDonald's, Levi's, Coca Cola, and Nike. His music has also been heard in feature films, including Wayne’s World and Lethal Weapon 2. A veteran of the recording industry, Jay has written and produced music for Little Richard, Sheryl Crow, James Ingram, Patti Austin, Stanley Clarke, Brenda Russell, and Dave Grusin. He was a Grammy Award finalist in 2002 for arrangements on the recording, Virtuosi, by Gary Burton and Makoto Ozone. His published compositions include works for concert band, percussion ensemble, and marching band.

Jay received the Doctor of Philosophy degree from Boston College, and the Master of Music and Bachelor of Music Education degrees from Northwestern University.


Guard Staff (provided by Drum Corps International)

Tim Newburn

Tim Newburn is the Colorguard Director for both Langham Creek and Cypress Ranch High Schools in Houston, Texas. In addition to the daily training and administrative duties for both Varisty and JV programs on each campus, he serves as the Program Coordinator for the highly competitive marching band. Mr Newburn is the Colorguard Coordinator for CFISD, a 10 high school district. This position, the first of its kind, allows him to oversee the development of curriculum and performance opportunities for colorguard students and staff district-wide. He is also the creative and administrative director for the Independent Open winterguard Langham Springs, based out of Houston.

Mr. Newburn recently joined the staff for the Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps, after long tenures with the Glassmen, Bluecoats and Phantom Regiment. He also currently consults with Juliana Drum & Bugle Corps of The Netherlands and is a member of the DCI Task Force.

Mr. Newburn serves in a variety of capacities to countless programs across the globe. As designer, coordinator, consultant, clinician, or judge, he has enjoyed working with numerous DCI, WGI and BOA finalists over the past decade and a half. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Ball State University and is hard at work on a colorguard teaching textbook, The Art of Down-Up-Flat.

Ronnie Bynum

Ronnie Bynum is a native of Muncie, IN. Ronnie currently resides in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is a graduate of Indiana University-Bloomington. Ronnie works with at-risk youth in collaboration with Indianapolis Public Schools, which serves children in urban city communities.

Bynum is an alumnus of the Pride of Cincinnati (1997), Crown Guard (2000), and The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps (1995–1996).

Bynum's teaching experiences include serving as a flag technician for the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps from 1997-2001, Center Grove Color Guard from 2002-2010 Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps from 2002-2007. Bynum served as the Caption Head for The Blue Stars Color Guard in 2001 and The Cavaliers Color Guard from 2008-2009. 2011 will mark his second year as a member of The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps Color Guard staff.

Jennifer Leseth

Jennifer LeSeth has over 27 years of performance, design, and instruction experience. As a drum corps performer, "Jenifo" marched with the Phantom Regiment Cadets, the Phantom Regiment, and the Cadets Of Bergen County.

Her winter guard performing career included five seasons with the Guardsmen of Schaumburg (IL), two seasons with State Street Review of Madison (WI), and two seasons with Escapade, of Dayton (OH).

As a color guard designer and coordinator Jennifer's drum corps experience includes the Bluecoats 1995-1998 (OH), Crossmen 1999 (PA), Phantom Regiment 2000-2002 (IL), Madison Scouts 2003-2005 (WI), Carolina Crown 2007-2008 (SC). In 2009, Jennifer was appointed the Color Guard Caption Manager for The Santa Clara Vanguard (CA), a position she still holds today.

Jennifer worked for eight years with the Bands of America titlist Marian Catholic High School Band from Chicago Heights (IL), two years with the noted Spring (TX) Band. She just finished her ninth, and final, season with The Plymouth-Canton Marching Band from Canton (MI).

Jennifer has been working with The Spirit Of America Marching Band from Cape Cod (MA) since 2005. She has traveled to Italy, Korea, England, Japan, and numerous states in the United States to clinic and share her expertise.

Jennifer currently resides in Chicago, IL where she is going back to school for Hospitality/Event Management.
