NAfME believes all students should have access to a comprehensive, sequential music education program taught by a qualified music educator. Our programs and resources promote teacher excellence, encourage networking and information sharing, and provide professional development opportunities.
NAfME’s resources for teachers:
- Magazines and Journals — NAfME publishes six periodicals, available to members online and in print.
- Books covering a wide range of teaching topics and offered at a discounted rate to members.
- NAfME Membership — Teachers can join a network of active, retired, and preservice music educators.
- Music Education Events including the annual Music Education Week in Washington, DC.
- My Music Class — A lesson plan library filled with standards-aligned teaching ideas and resources, exclusively for NAfME members.
- Online Communities and Discussion Forums featuring a Mentor Program to help members get expert advice in answer to their teaching questions.
- National Standards for Music Education, which represent the first comprehensive set of educational standards for K-12 arts instruction. Developed by NAfME in 1994.
- Programs and Activities that raise awareness for and encourage participation in music education.
